Summary of Project / Major Outcome /Achievements : In an exploration for collection of primary information in the field of medicinal plants from its varied biodiversity and socio cultural richness of Mizoram, eight districts were surveyed among ethnic groups viz., Mizo, Chakma, Bru, Pawi, Lakher, Peng, Bawn, Hamr and Paite. A total of 242 ethnomedicinal plant species (Herb Shrub Tree, Fern Climber, Epiphyte) belonging to 86 families were covered. ethno-medicinal use of medicinal plants were also documented for Gall- bladder stone, Snake bite, Syphilis, Heart disease, Hypertension, Cancer, Rheumatism, Gout, Malaria, Bone fracture, Measles, Liver and Spleen problems, Diabetes, Tumour and Epilepsy etc. Herbarium of medicinal plants along with digital information was also deposited in the Institute herbarium.
