Summary of Project / Major Outcome /Achievements : "A preliminary studies on Abrus precatorius L. (seeds), Argemone mexicana L. (seeds), Alstonia scholaris (L.) R. Br. (bark), Bacopa monnieri (L.) Wettst. (Whole plant) and Camellia sinensis L. (leaves) was conducted. Five extracts in different organic solvents were prepared for each plant material. In -vitro SRB assay for anticancer activity was carried out at ACTREC on available 15 Human cell. Ethanolic extract of Bacopa monnieri plant on Human breast Cancer Cell Line MDA – MB- 468. Hydro-alcoholic (50% Ethanol) extract of Abrus precatorius L. seeds on Human Breast Cancer Cell Line MCF – 7. Ethanolic, Methanolic and Petroleum ether extracts of Argemone mexicana L. seeds on Human Leukaemia Cell Line HL – 60. etc were selected for further studies. 10 extracts of these plants were submitted for in vitro SRB Assay on additional Human Breast Cancer Cell lines. HPTLC fingerprint of all the 25 extracts were also submitted to ACTREC for in vitro SRB Assay was carried out as per the suggestion given by the review committee. The anticancer activity of crude Ethanolic extract may be due to these three compounds (Enkephaline (D-Ala)-2-Leu, Aflatoxin B1 exo-8,9-epoxide-GSH and Chaulmosulfone) or due to the synergistic activity of all the compounds observed in crude Ethanolic extract of Bacopa monnieri (L.) Wettst. "
