Complexities in trade of herbal and medicinal plants in India
Trade in medicinal plants is highly complex in India. It involves a number of persons in the channel. Starting with the collection of material in the wild by tribal and villagers, it comes to the local traders known as “Thekedars” who deliver it at a road head centre. The material collected at these centres is carried to the regional wholesale market which is then sent to the bigger towns/ cities.
